Camper

Our first trip with our our little Coleman camper was from Sunday, June 28 through Thursday, July 2, 2009. The main purpose of the trip was to visit Escanaba, Michigan and our friends George & Marie Peterson. Marie was playing piano for a woman who was celebrating her 60th birthday with a fund-raising concert! The concert was very nice.

We helped the economy of Esky quite a bit with trips to Shop-Ko, Wal*Mart and several other stores as we bought things we needed for the camper.

The weather was mostly cool to cold and off-and-on light rain, although the rain only prevented us from doing one thing - a trip to Painted Rocks.

We camped at Delta County Pioneer Trail Park & Campground, in site 30. Website. Park Map. Nice camp grounds; practically empty until we left - they were 90% or better booked for the Fourth of July weekend.

Our campsite looked like this.

On Tuesday we visited the Hoegh Pet Casket Company in Gladstone, Michigan. They have been making pet caskets since 1966 and make some 30,000 a year. Their web site is here.

On Wednesday evening we went to the Esky City Band concert - it was chilly! Pictures are here.

Our final day was spent traveling with George, Marie & Margaret to . . .

Then we headed home. Trip stats:

  • 392.6 miles

  • 20.5 miles per gallon

  • 10 hours 20 minutes of driving (that includes driving around town, of course).
